Lauren Daigle praying for God

Let my life be a song, revealing who You are.

A man sits on a dock beside still water. Behind his head, which is bowed as if in prayer, the sun shines faintly through orange clouds.

Take a slow, deep breath. Then take a close look at words so familiar we tend to read right past them – Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:9-10.

Pray like this: Our Father who is in heaven, uphold the holiness of your name. Bring in your kingdom so that your will is done on earth as it’s done in heaven. (CEB)

Now pause and consider what may be a new thought for you, from the post, Praying for God: “If, in prayer, I ask that what you desire happens or that what you’re doing succeeds, I’m praying for you. If I pray for the respect due to you to come to you, I’m praying for you. So when we pray for the Lord’s kingdom to prosper, his will to be done and his name to be honored, we’re praying for him.”

In the song “Salt & Light,” Lauren Daigle sings the prayers of Matthew 6:9-10 this way:

Let my eyes see Your kingdom shine all around
Let my heart overflow with passion for Your name
Let my life be a song, revealing who You are

As these lyrics suggest: Praying for God profoundly changes the nature of what you pray for yourself. And thus, praying the forgotten prayers that Jesus taught us to pray first – and embracing what the Lord does in answer – will profoundly affect the trajectory of your life.

Be bold, be blessed, to pray like this.
